Minor Arcana
Nine of Swords
The Nine of Swords shows a figure sitting up in bed in the dark, face in hands, nine swords lined along the wall behind. The card speaks of anxiety, sleepless worry, and the nighttime fears that loom larger than the day allows. The swords hang in the mind, not in the room.
Upright
The fear feels enormous in the dark, yet much of its weight is in the mind rather than the morning. Name the worry plainly and it often shrinks. You are not as alone with it as the night makes it seem.
Reversed
Reversed, the anxiety may be beginning to lift as you speak it aloud, or it may be deepening into despair held in silence. There can be a turning toward help, or a sinking further into the spiral. Notice whether the dawn is coming or the night is closing in.
